Microsoft Windows 11

My current HP Desktop runs an amd Ryzen 3 53000g, my motherboard ID is 8906 and I am almost certain it can run a Ryzen 5 3600. But when I put in the new CPU, my computer turned on, but my screen was black. I am wondering what bios update i need and how to update it so that my new processor will work. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

@Bruce_Gibson-45,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your Erica 6 (SSID: 8906) motherboard is compatible with Zen 3 (Cezanne) processors, not Zen 2 (Matisse) processors.

Therefore, if you want to upgrade your AMD Ryzen 3 5300G, go for an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G or an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G, both of which are faster than an AMD Ryzen 5 3600:

Hope this was helpful.
