Thank you for the additional information, @Branne1922!
Here is the Product Specifications page for the computer: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-touchsmart-520-1100-desktop-pc-series/5186980/model/5253996/...
You should look at the section titled "Processor/Processor upgrade information" for a list of compatible processor upgrades. There is one i7 available. These processors have been fully tested to assure that they are compatible with the motherboard. Any others most likely will not work.
Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

@Branne1922 , welcome to the forum.
What is the full model or product number of the computer? I need this information to review the specifications of it. Please don't furnish the Serial # or other personal information. Here is a guide to help you find it: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07555

Thanks Old_geekster,
I've sourced the specified i7 for the motherboard. Just one other question: Do I need to change driver software or anything else when I install the i7 chip?
Many thanks for your assistance.

You are welcome, @Branne1922!
I suggest that you update the BIOS. Here is the latest version that is available from HP: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-touchsmart-520-1100-desktop-pc-series/...
Read all of the information carefully and follow the instructions. A failed BIOS update can make your computer a great boat anchor.
