HP ENVY Desktop - TE01-1165t
Microsoft Windows 11

Question concerning CPU and Motherboard compatibility for HP ENVY TE01-1165t desktop. If the Baker 8767, Chipset Intel H470, motherboard specifies a series of acceptable CPU’s, i.e.; Intel Core i5-10400 and i7-10700. Will superseded models i5-11400, i5-12400 and i7-11700 be also acceptable and compatible with the motherboard since they were not listed? Also, will the superseded CPU models require new cooling fans? Thank you…

@SteveRV4,

You would think/hope so, since the Intel H470 chipset does support Intel 11th generation processors.

However, as per Intel, quote: "Intel® Z490 and H470 chipset-based motherboards may not boot with the 11th Gen Intel® Core™ desktop processors.  Intel® Z490 and H470 chipset-based motherboards may require a BIOS update to boot the 11th Gen Intel® Core™ desktop processors. Intel recommends that you update the BIOS on your Intel® 400 Series Chipset-based systems for compatibility with the 11th Gen Intel® Core™ desktop processors." (emphasis added). And that's the point: I see no evidence that HP provided a BIOS (Baker) motherboard update to allow 11th gen Intel processors to work on HP computers with H470 chipsets.  Also, I haven't seen any HP ENVY TE01-1165t User rigs fitted with 11th gen Intel CPUs here: https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-ENVY-TE01-1xxx/196219.

Kind Regards,
