Hello.

I recently got a prodesk 800 g2 sff computer as a barebone. And i got myself a intel i5 6500 cpu and some ram. But i cant get video output from the pc. It beeps when i remove the ram and such but not more then that.

Does it need a bios update for this cpu?  Or should this cpu be supported out of the box on the stock bios?

Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi @Frietpan

I imagine you are referring to the model: HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Small Form Factor PC,  Prodesk 800 G2 SFF does not exist.

The processor you indicate is compatible with your model PC, see manual service

Ah yes thats the one my bad.

Then im not sure what is wrong with the machine, I tried 2 sets of ram. (corsair vengeance 3200 and crucial CT2K4G4DFS824A 2400) And tried with a nvidia 1030 gfx card (hdmi) and on board video (displayport and vga) and both dont output video. I notice the keyboard lighting comes on after a while but thats it.  (fans spin, leds on motherboard come on, front panel lights work, gpu fan spins, cpu heatsink gets warm indicating cpu gets power)

The cpu i used is second hand so i dont know if that thing is wonky either, But i have a 6100 i3 on order to see if that is the issue, And if that doesnt fix it i may try reflashing the bios with one of those external bios flashing tools.

if that does not work i give up lol.

Well turned out the display port converter i used was the issue... 😅
