Hello,
I just tried to upgrade my stock CPU from a core i5 to core i7 3770. The PC will not boot and gives 5 beeps during POST startup. I looked it up and it meant processor failure. I replaced the original CPU back and the PC booted normally.
Does this mean my core i7 is defective? Or do I need to do any BIOS upgrade to make it work?
My system BIOS version is: J01 V02.21
If the core i7 3770 is not compatible? What would be the highest CPU that could work on the 8200 Elite SFF?
I would it appreciate your kind advice.
Thanks in advance!

Hi:
The best you can do is the i7-2600.
The HP 8200 Elite PC series cannot support any Intel 3rd gen processor.
See this note from Intel at the link below...The 8200 Elite has the Q67 chipset.
