CPU upgrade for the omen 25L

Hello, I have a question, I was curious if the i7 12700k is compatible with the omen 25l (the 25l I have has an Intel i5 10400 and a gtx 1660 super) and if the 12700k isn't compatiple, are they're any cpus that are very similar that are compatible

Given the information you provided, it appears that you got an OMEN by HP 25L Desktop GT12-0xxx fitted either with the DoradoOC motherboard (SSID: 8703) or the Dorado motherboard (SSID: 8704).

I need to know which motherboard you got in order to give you the best possible information.

Type: system information in your Windows search bar, click on the System Information app, and look to the right of "BaseBoard Product", and provide that number.

It says baseboard product is 8704 and the version is 00, I have the gt12 00xx

Your HP OMEN 25L Desktop GT12-0xxx as fitted with the Dorado motherboard (SSID: 8704), can be upgraded with any of these processors: i7-10700 / i7-10700F / i9-10900 / i9-10900F, all having a 65-watt TDP.

If you had the DoradoOC motherboard (SSID: 8703), you could upgrade with any of these processors: i7-10700K / i7-10700KF / i9-10900K / i9-10900KF, all having a 95-watt TDP.

Your PC is only compatible with 10th gen Intel Core processors.

You may be successful installing any of the aforementioned 95-watt TDP processors, but that would be outside HP's recommended processor scope.
