Hello,
I have replaced the i3-9100T by an i7-9700T in my ProDesk 400 G5 DM. While I ran some benchmarks I checked power with a digital wattmeter and noticed some spikes in the 70 W range. Since the power adapter I currently use is the 65 W model should I be worried and try to get the 90 W part instead?

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Both the i3-9100T and the i7-9700T processors have a 25-watt TDP, so that shouldn't make much of a power demand increase.
Unless you mean you installed an i7-9700 (65-watt TDP), you really shouldn't have to upgrade your power adapter.
On the other hand, if your system is drawing power spikes in the 70-watt range, yes, I personally would upgrade the power supply to the 90-watt unit. The 90-watt power supply would run cooler too, which is another benefit.
Kind Regards,
