HP Pavilion p6604f Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I was doing some research to upgrade my HP Pavilion P6604f desktop and saw on this website: https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c02544703

that my mother board should be able to support the following processor types.

  • AMD Phenom II X6 10xxT Six-Core (Thuban core)
  • AMD Phenom II X4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (Deneb core)
  • AMD Phenom II X3 7xx/7xxe Triple-Core (Heka core)
  • AMD Phenom II X2 5xx (Callisto core)
  • AMD Athlon X4 6xx/6xxe (Propus)
  • AMD Athlon X3 4xx/4xxe (Rana)
  • AMD Athlon X2 2xx/2xxe (Regor)
  • AMD Sempron Single Core 1xx (Sargas core)

I purchased the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 1090 3.2 GHz Six Core CPU Processor HDT90ZFBK6DGR Socket AM3 thinking it was compatible, however after I installed the unit, I got the red message stating that the motherboard doesn't support the new processor.

Looking for recommendations for alternative six core CPU processors to try, or could I have just been sent a defective processor? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

The following list shows Phenom CPUs and TDP for each.

It looks like the 1065T is as high as you can go.

Hello
tell me if I'm wrong!
the motherboard supports a dtp of 95w (which is mentioned):

Motherboard Specifications, N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX (Alvorix)

From what I found, with your reference, this processor would have a tdp of 125w, maybe that comes from that ..

Hi,

The CPU you bought is a 125 watt TDP CPU.

Your motherboard only supports 95 watt TDP CPUs.

Thank you for the information. Is there an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T 1090 3.2 GHz Six Core CPU that is 95w compatible?

Looking for six cores, 3.2GHz capability.

Hi,

You're very welcome.

The 1065T performance is very close to the 1090T. A 100 MHz difference on base frequency and turbo frequency is pretty good.
