Hp 510-P089
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This is the exact PC that I have. Wondering if anyone knows if it is safe to replace the stock GT 730 with a Mini GTX 1050 ti. By safe I mean if it’s comparable with my pc’s PSU 180w. I have also unplugged the CD disk drive to save some wattage.

Greetings,

Welcome back to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

You will have to upgrade the 180 watt power supply to a minimum 300 watt power supply if you want a 1050 graphics card.

Where can I buy a 300w power supply? Link? Thanks

Hi,

HP lists the power supply as a uATX part. You will have to measure this part and compare to other 300 watt power supplies.

I took a closer look at your motherboard (MB). The mini 1050 Ti is a dual slot card.

Your MB has the 24 pin power supply connection very close to the PCIe x16 slot where the graphics card installs. The location of the front panel USB and audio connections may also cause problems with a dual slot graphics card.

The above constraints may limit you to single slot graphics card upgrades.

You should sort this problem out before you buy a dual slot graphics card or a different power supply.

This is the graphics card: https://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphics_card/zotac-geforce-gtx-1050-ti-oc-edition

Would this be a single slot Card?

@alfredjames,

NO it is a dual slot card.
