Envy TE-01
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought an HP Envy TE-01 desktop with a 500 GB SSD. I have recently acquired a Western DIgital WD 10EURX 1 TB hard drive. Is this hard drive compatible with this desktop and if so, is there anything out of the ordinary I should be aware of in installing it?

You are welcome, @TM86!  Thank you for the additional information.

I believe that the hard drive (HDD) should be compatible with the motherboard.  You will need a SATA power and data cable to connect it.  Here is a guide that should help you with the install:  https://www.pcworld.com/article/131231/how-to-install-a-new-hard-drive-in-your-desktop-pc.html

@TM86 , welcome to the forum.

What is the full model or product number of the computer? I need this information to review the specifications of it. Please don't furnish the Serial # or other personal information. Here is a guide to help you find it:  https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07555

@TM86,

Those power supplies do not have a SATA powere cable, it comes from the motherboard.

You need to look at the motherboard. Is that SATA power socket on the motherboard.  It is a 2x2 (black) socket right below the ODD (Optical Disk Drive) power cable.  Does it really have a cable already there?   Without same, you need to order the proper SATA power cable.  I am trying to research it for you. This company was supposed to get back to me.   See socket in this video at 0:32

The unit allows 2 hard drives, see this video for standard mount and the tray mount. Use 6/32 x 1/4 screws.

After you do install the hard drive, be sure to re-assign the folders to that new drive.
