Can I install a second internal SATA HDD or SSD in a HP ProDesk 400 G3 SFF?

Can the drive cage of the HP ProDesk 400 G3 SFF holds one HDD and one 2.5-Inch SSD?

If you look at the page, it shows only 1 drive at a time in the bay.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..

@Oscar_Ariza,

On page 29 of the Service manual please note that there are only 2 SATA data headers.

With that in mind, the answer is NO, as SATA0 is the hard drive and SATA 1 is the DVD drive.

 

The only workaround would be to remove the DVD drive.

You would need to measure the ODD Slim DVD drive before you got an external case.

It is either a 9.5 or 12.7mm height drive.

@Wb2001,

Thanks for replying to my question however my plan is to use a SATA expansion card on the PCIe x1 slot which will give me 2 extra SATA ports then my concern is not the lack of SATA data header on the board.

 

By any chance do you know if one internal HDD 3.5-inch and one internal SSD 2.5-inch can be held on the drive cage?
