Outstanding! Your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0084 (5QA71AA) as fitted with a Lincs motherboard (SSID: 843B) is a highly upgradeable and versatile PC!
According to HP's specs and your feedback, your PC is fitted with one 8GB 2666 MHz RAM stick (p/n: 934254-800), a GTX 1060 3GB graphics card, an i5-8400 CPU, and a 400-watt power supply with p/n: L04618-800.
There are a lot of upgrade options available for you, depending on what you want/need and your budget, of course.
The least expensive upgrade would be to add an identical (or as identical as possible) 8GB RAM stick, such as this Amazon purchase option: https://www.amazon.com/Tech-Replacement-934254-800-PC4-21300-934254-800-ATC/dp/B0DF44TTTL/ref=sr_1_2....
Or you could decide to increase/max out your RAM to this quality/affordable 2 x16GB DDR4 PC4-21300, 2666 MHz, Non-ECC, UDIMM, Dual-Rank (2Rx8), 288-pin RAM kit via Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Timetec-2600MHz-PC4-20800-Unbuffered-Non-ECC/dp/B07CQ8FJXB/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2O....
Here are two YouTube instructional videos showing you how to access your RAM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0jJuECxjbA&ab_channel=LPGTOYSNGAMES, and: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gBkdfvf_gg&ab_channel=TechNitWit.
This is just the beginning, though!
You could upgrade your graphics card to a smaller-sized (dual fan) RTX 4060 powered by a single 8-pin PCIe power cable, such as this purchase example via Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-DisplayPort-Axial-tech-Technology-Auto-Extreme/dp/B0C7YPGFFW/ref=sr_1_3?.... This 115-watt TDP card can easily be powered by your existing 400-watt power supply: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/asus-dual-rtx-4060-oc.b11146.
You'll find the RTX 4060 graphics performance increase compared with your GTX 1060 very pleasing: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1060-3GB-vs-Nvidia-RTX-4060/3646vs4150.
Anyway, I digress perhaps.

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
In order for me to assist you, please give me the model number of your HP Pavilion.
You can find this by typing in system information in your windows search bar and looking to the right of System SKU and BaseBoard Product and giving me this information.

Other upgrades available for your PC (in addition to the ones I pointed out in my previous post), would be to upgrade your i5-8400 to an i7-8700, which you can buy very inexpensively such as via the trusted 'Top Rated' eBay Seller for less than $80: https://www.ebay.com/itm/125534712056?_skw=i7-8700&epid=2177459277&itmmeta=01JD67W6QSWXT01CC76DY7A5T....
But wait: your PC can also be upgraded with 8th AND 9th gen Intel Core "K" processors such as the i7-8700K, i7-9700K, and the i9-9900K to further ramp up your Gaming potential if you so choose. These processors can also be purchased relatively affordably via eBay.
And at some point, you could even consider upgrading your 400-watt power supply with a compatible 500-watt power supply with p/n: L05757-800 in order to further upgrade your PC with an even higher-end graphics card.

The ASUS Dual RTX 4060 OC has four display outputs: three DisplayPort 1.4a ports and one HDMI 2.1a port. This setup is sufficient for connecting a Valve Index, which requires one DisplayPort connection and a USB port for tracking data (provided via your motherboard or another USB port on your PC). With its DisplayPort 1.4a, the card is fully compatible with the Valve Index's display requirements (see: https://www.digitalcitizen.life/asus-dual-geforce-rtx-4060-oc-edition-review/) and: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-4060.c4107).
Make sure to also verify that your PC has a free USB 3.0 port for the Index's USB connection, as the graphics card doesn't provide USB ports for this purpose.
