I have an open PCIe X1 slot on my HP Pavillion with a Odense2-K motherboard.

Can I add a PCIe SSD or M.2 SSD drive?

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

Technically, you can't put either into that slot -- as you require a controller card for that slot, and then connecting the SSD to that card.

But, you can use any SSD or M.2 SSD PCI-e controller card.

If it were mine, and I had the money, I would go for the M.2 since not only is the interface faster than traditional SATA, but the SSDs are considerably faster as well, it's just that they cost roughly twice what the traditional SSD controllers and drives cost.

Should there be a hard drive and DVD indicator light somewhere on this machine?

Dont they make an M.2 card with the SSD already on it?
