Is it possible to remove the stand to add a mount for arm mounting? If not, is there an arm stand that will allow me to raise my monitor without taking the stand off? I definitely need it higher and not sitting on the desk top since my deck is relatively narrow.

Hi @ORCL33868,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Good question. I can help with that.

Short answer: Many (but not all) HP monitors are designed so the stand can be removed and replaced with a VESA-compatible monitor arm, but some models don’t expose a standard VESA pattern and require either a model-specific adapter or an aftermarket clamp-style arm. To be 100% accurate for your unit, I’ll need the monitor model number (usually on a label on the back or the underside). If you prefer, you can paste the model here, and I’ll check the exact compatibility and recommended mounts.

Meanwhile, here are clear, accurate steps and checks you can do right now:

  1. Look for the VESA mounting pattern
    • Turn the monitor around and inspect the back. If you see four screw holes in a square (usually 75×75 mm or 100×100 mm), that’s the standard VESA pattern. You can remove the stand and attach any VESA-compatible arm rated for the monitor’s weight.
    • If you don’t see those four holes but see a plastic cover or a small panel, the VESA mount may be behind that cover; some stands snap on over the VESA plate.

  2. How to remove the stand (typical steps)
    • Power off and unplug the monitor. Place it face down on a soft, flat surface.
    • Look where the stand meets the monitor: many HP stands have a release button or one or more screws (usually Phillips). Press the release button or remove the screws and slide the stand out. Keep any screws in a safe place.
    • If the stand doesn’t budge, check for a hidden screw under a trim piece or rubber pad, or consult the quick-start/setup guide for your model.

  3. If your monitor is VESA-compatible
    • Confirm the VESA size (75×75 or 100×100 mm) and the monitor’s weight (both are in the user manual or on the spec label).
    • Choose a monitor arm rated for that VESA size, and that can support the weight (plus a little margin). Most desk arms list a supported weight range (e.g., 2.2–9.9 kg).
    • Install per the arm manufacturer’s instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi @ORCL33868,

Thank you for sharing the model details. I know it can be confusing when you’re trying to figure out mounting options, so I appreciate you checking with us. For this specific model, VESA mounting isn’t supported. It can only be used with the regular stand provided by HP.

I hope this helps.
