HP Pavilion Desktop - TP01-0145m
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This is a Pavilion TP01-0145m that uses an erica 2 motherboard. Those are scarce even on Ebay. My question is, would an erica 3 motherboard simply drop in as a replacement with the same PSU & AMD CPU?

thanks in advancem

@Babbitslinger,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Excellent question.  I need a little bit more info if you don't mind.

Please type in System Information in your Windows search bar and left-click on the System Information App.  Please look up "System SKU" and "BaseBoard Product" and let me know what it says to the right of it.

Kind Regards,

@Babbitslinger,

Whilst waiting for the info I requested, I looked at/compared both Erica motherboards.

Honestly, given how remarkably similar both MOBOs are, including same system board layout, same chipset (B550A), same processor socket (AM4) and same integrated graphics (Radeon Vega Graphics), it would definitely appear on first sight that they should be interchangeable.

to check, because sometimes possible
but if you change the motherboard, the Windows OEM integrated system may no longer be able to work
There is a Microsoft article, which explains that it is normally possible under certain conditions, but I was never confirmed afterwards
If it's just for a little bit more performance, maybe not the best option

Actually the problem is the result of a failed Erica 2.  No startup condition:

Cpu fan spi b s 1 second after on button push.

Replaced PSU and verified correct voltages with multimeter.

Swapped memory sticks

Disconnected drives

Check cmos battery volts good

Swapped monitor

Swapped power cable

Reset cmos

Repasted cpu... temps well below concern level

All was preceeded by weeks of random shutdowns, odd behavior

Updated all drivers, verified power plans and sleep modes

Sfc / scanning

reloaded Win 10

Local tech advised need of mb, aggravating

@Babbitslinger,

Yea, as @Prométhée mentioned, motherboard replacement/compatibility depends of course on what motherboard you have installed in your desktop, that's why I asked for the "System SKU" and "BaseBoard Product" info.

And in terms of Windows, swapping motherboards could require you to need a new Windows license.

Kind Regards,
