HP Pavilion Elite HPE-120f Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had this desktop for years. Lately it has been really slow but still a good desktop. It has 4 slots but 8GB of RAM with 2GB per slot. It is a HP Pavilion Elite Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q9300(2)
Genuine Windows® 10 Home Premium 64-bit(1).

Was hoping to cure the sluggishness a little bit, before I send my desktop to the graveyard.

Any help would be great.

Below is the link to the parts list for your PC:

HP PartSurfer

It comes with a:

533234-002
System board (motherboard) Eureka3-GL8E

Any source I could find indicates that your PC is at the max with 4 x 2 GB of DDR3-10600 memory.

HP IPIEL-LA3 (Eureka3) motherboard specifications and reviews

Have you replaced the 3.5" mechanical hard drive with a much better performing 2.5" SSD?

If not, you may want to do that because it will probably help the performance about the same as if you could have installed 16 GB of memory.

I have an old HP dc7800 CMT with an Intel E8300 processor and 8 GB of DDR2-6400 memory and it runs just fine with a 2.5" SSD.

Made a big difference swapping out the mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.

You just need an adapter to mount the smaller SSD where the hard drive goes.

I used this adapter:

Amazon.com: ORICO 2.5 SSD SATA to 3.5 Hard Drive Adapter Internal Drive Bay Converter Mounting Brack...

Recommended 2.5" SSD in a storage capacity that meets your needs and budget.

This is the 1 TB model:

Amazon.com: Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SA510 SATA Internal Solid State Drive SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s,...

Thank you for the info. This helps me a lot. A little sad, that's the max RAM without doing any upgrades.  The hard drive is still the same from when I bought it. I hope to decide what I want to do with it soon. I don't use it often, but now there might be some hope for it.

Thanks again!
