Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hi, there.

I would like to upgrade the CPU of my pc (HP Pavilion Slimline s7600y CTO Desktop PC).  Currently it has Intel Core Duo T2050 @ 1.60GHz CPU. I found some info about possible upgrade, but I would like to have somebody to confirm that for me, please.

Here is something else: Motherboard is manufactured by ASUSTeK Computer INC.

Model: MAGNETITE (Socket 479)

Version: 1.02

Thanks in advance.

You're very welcome.

The PBGA479 is the type that is soldered to the motherboard.

If your T2050 processor is reported as a PBGA479, you cannot upgrade the processor.

Socket 479 mPGA should work with the Socket PPGA478 processor.

Hi:

You can't go much beyond what you already have now.

Below is the link to the motherboard specs for your model.

According to the processor upgrade info, the best you can do would be the T2700

Ok, but how would you know that T2x00 is T2700, not T2800, or T2900?

If that is the last product in Intel's production line, can you provide the reference link, please?

HP Recommended

I would know that because there is no such thing as a T2800 or T2900 processor.

Here is the link to all of the Yonah processors that Intel produced.

Ok, accepted.

One more question, please.

I have two apps showing that my current CPU - Intel Core Duo T2050 - is a package for Socket 479 mPGA.

And at the same time it supports Socket PPGA478, as per

https://ark.intel.com/products/27231/Intel-Core-Duo-Processor-T2050-2M-Cache-1_60-GHz-533-MHz-FSB

Now, T2700 supports Socket PBGA479.

I am assuming it is ok for my motherboard, isn't?

Thanks a lot.
