I want to upgrade to an Intel Core i7-4790, but the original documentation of this PC says that it only supports up to third generation. Would it be able to support up to fourth generation with the BIOs update from 2015? If it won't then I'll be fine with upgrading my current CPU (Intel Core i5-2400S) to an Intel Core i5-3450.

@chaox1013, welcome to the forum.
The processors that are listed in the specs are the ones that have been fully tested to assure that they will work without problems. Does this mean that other processors won't work -- No! However, it does mean that you are on your own if you decide to try one that isn't on the list. I have heard of instances where processors that weren't on the list worked, but there certainly is no guaranty. The main thing that you have to watch is the TDP. It has to match.

I'll stick to the 3450 then, just to be safe. It's TDP is 77W, so it matches with the motherboard's capacity. I was worried that if I installed a fourth generation that it would work, but it wouldn't recognize the CPU model. This happened with an older PC that I use as a file server, since the BIOs can't be updated (this motherboard is from 2006 so it's really outdated) it can the run the CPU but doesn't recognize the model. Anyways, your answer helped me out a lot! Thank you.
