HP Desktop - M01-F1014

I have an m01-f1014 and would like to use a second monitor but my PC only has one HDMI output.  what is the best option?  I can't seem to use an HDMI splitter as the PC will not recognize the 2nd monitor. I would like to have HD resolution and it looks like the PC can't handle much of a video card upgrade due to power constraints. Any help would be appreciated.

I assume you are not using an add-in video board.

Your motherboard supports the following

  • (1) RJ-45 Ethernet port
  • (1) HDMI 1.4b/HDCP 2.2 port
  • (1) VGA port
  • (3) Audio ports
  • (4) USB 2.0 Type-A ports
  • (1) Power input port

VGA can do HD (1080p)

Depending on your location I would go to a second hand store such as goodwill or salvation army and get a VGA monitor that also has DVI input.  Probably about $15 USD can can be returned if image is not good.  Take a smartphone and lookup the model to verify it does HD.

If the monitors does NOT have a DVI or HDMI input the VGA is probably not HD quality.

Thanks, I was ultimately able to use a VGA cable to connect the second monitor.
