Product: HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT PC
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi can i use xeon for hp motherboard 1494 ? My pc HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT PC  . Can motherboard support xeon processor like Xeon E3-1260L or only i3,i5,i7?

HP Recommended

HP only lists the i3 through i7 as compatible. However there was a BIOS update last year which which supports the Sandy Bridge CPUs which the E3-1260L is a part of. That of course is a server CPU which you are probably already aware. As well the chipset on that model's MB supports the XEON E3-1260L as well. So theoretically it should but keep in mind that HP does not list it as compatible so you may only find out by trying the CPU. Considering the age of the system and CPU, it would not be an expensive swap to try.
