So I was thinking about upgrading my PC with a new GPU. I was just wondering if the HP ENVY 700-329 can handle a gtx 960 or 970? Sorry, if my question is stupid, I'm new to PC stuff.
Note I have an atx power supply in mind as well. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the assist. Concise explanation.
Suggest you cut out a cardboard template the size of the PGU card, then try it.
It's all above card length (as I said before), and now the cost. The Zotac GTX1080 mini (at 8") is a good choice. It's got 8GB of DDR5X RAM onboard. If you do that card, be sure to get the "AfterBurner" fan control program.

Your learning curve is about to expand, so do the research first, and report back.
Please specify the exact ATX PSU your considering, but a Corsair CX600 is an excellent choice. It is an exact fit, andhas the necessary PCIE power plugs for the card. The GTX 970 comes from various manufacturers, so you need to clarify your choice. Length of the card is of interest.

Hi wb2001
The Corsair CX600 is a sweet power supply.
I was going to respond to this question earlier but did not.
If I was going to upgrade I would look at the Nvidia GTX 1070. I know, the length of this card could be a deal breaker. EVGA has a 1070 that measures 10.5 inches in length. EVGA seems to make graphics cards having the shortest length.
The 1070's performance equals and sometimes beats the GTX 980.
I think the location of the HDD cage in this chassis might get in the way.

Hi TechNoob001
I just installed an Asus Strix ROG GTX 1080 in my system. The LED lighting is crazy cool!
I had an EVGA 960 FTW.
The Asus card is way quieter than the EVGA 960 and runs cooler.
