I'm considering buying a used ProDesk 600 G3 Desktop Mini, but the seller hasn't provided any details of the spec which can vary enormously for this device. I've spoken with the seller who's provided me with a photo of the underside of the unit clearly showing all the details including the P/N and S/N. My understanding is that the P/N code is the one that most completely specifies the exact mode land, normally, a Google search for this returns a page where I can view the complete specification, but for some reason this one (2EJ93UC#ABU) returns only two results:
http://store.hp.com/UKStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=T4J49EA&opt=ABU&sel=DEF
This is a page for another P/N (T4J49EA#ABU) as can be seen from the URL and in the placeholder for the picture of the device on the page. Not sure why this redirects without any explanation, but the other link is to a US vendor, but appears to be picking up on a similar code (but ending #ABA) which is a completely different spec to the one.
I've been able to verify the S/N which shows the warranty is active "Covered under Manufacturer warranty, 33 months remaining" and I can get drivers, manuals etc., but nowhere can I see how to check the actual spec of this machine.
What am I doing wrong?
Where can I find this information?

Hi, @Tolqua
You will only be able to find the major specs.
Looking at the parts list, here is what I see...
Processor: Intel G3930T 7Ge Celeron2C
Hard Drive: 500GB SATA hard disk drive - 7,200 RPM, 7mm form factor (this is a notebook size hard drive).
Memory: 4GB (1x4GB) DDR4 2400
Power Supply: GNRC,P/S, 65W, ENT14 EPS, 89% EFF, 19.5V

Please check the following link for product T4J49EA:
http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?searchText=2EJ93UC
The last 3 characters are for country code. They may not be the same depending regurations/laws on each country such as power cord, wireless card, keyboard ...
Regards.

Am I missing something?
This just returns a list of spares/components.
I understand that the last three characters denote the regional variant. I've serched with and without this. The 2EJ93UC#ABA has a very different spec to the T4J49EA9 (the one redirected to when seaching for 2EJ93UC#ABU).
Also, the P/N on the item is 2EJ93UC not T4J49EA. I still have no explanation of how these are related or why one suprecedes the other.
...and still no idea of the spec of the 2EJ93UC#ABU.
To add further confusion to this mess, searching for this in the support portal returns this:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/search?q=2EJ93UC%23ABU&filter=-1
...a page relating to a laptop!
What on Earth is going on?

Ah, I see, you've inferred the basic spec (what I needed) from the BOM.
If that's right, the PC's an even lower spec than the one the one the page I got redirected to.
Is this really the only way to get the specs? It's not a very old machine and I've always been able to get access to a basic specs really easily for every piece of HP equipment without having to go to these lengths. Has there been a change in the procedures HP uses regarding access to such basic information?
...and why the erronrous search result bringing up the laptop?
Sorry for all the questions - it's just I've never had these problems before and it'd be nice to know why.

Hi:
Since I don't work for, or represent HP, I cannot answer any of your follow-on questions.
For whatever reason, that particular product number does not produce any substantial information.
I agree with you, that usually you can google the product number and find a decent spec sheet with all the basic info and then some.
Personally, unless you are on a strict budget, I would go for a better model 600 G3 mini.
I wouldn't want an entry level Celeron processor in an otherwise decent machine.
I would go for one of the HP Smart Buy models such as this one. Comes with decent features--7th gen i5, 128 GB SSD, wireless...1FY62UT

Thanks Paul.
I already said "thanks, but no thanks" to the seller and I just won an item on eBay which fits the bill much better. It's a ProDesk 400 G3 Intel i7 Processor(6Gen),250 SSD,8GB RAM for £410. Not the latest case design, but cheap enough to add RAM and replsce the SSD if needed and also have room to add a big HDD.
