I am trying to detach the sata cable from my computer so that I can replace it.  However, I simply can't get it to come loose.  I have pressed in the release clip and pulled really hard on the cable.

What ended up doing the trick is "wiggling" the sata connector back and forth.  At first, I was trying to simply pull it.  Some newb questions are probably best answered by newbies 🙂

Greetings,

Welcome back to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

Pressing the release clip should work.

I have never seen this happen before.

I have worked on HP PCs. Releasing a SATA connection on the MB is sometimes difficult because the SATA port is located in a very tight area.  Also, the SATA port may be parallel to the MB tray. Your PC is in "retired status". I can't look at the MB.

Can you clear the area or approach the SATA connector at a slightly different angle?

Regards

@Silverthunder,

Hold down the release clip as you remove the Sata data cable.
