HP Z620 Workstation (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good day all,

I am trying to upgrade my Z620 Workstation to have 128Gb of RAM. I am using eight 16Gb DIMMs, and have dual Intel Xeon E5-2643 v2 processors. When I install the DIMMs using the 128Gb configuration found on page 16 of the QuickSpecs datasheet found here (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/attachments/psg/Business-PC-Workstation-POS/39756/1/HP%20Z620%20Quick...) Windows only detects 96Gb across only 6 slots. This seems to be the motherboard limit as shown in this sheet (https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03270936) but then why would the QuickSpecs on suggest 192Gb? None of the ram is broken and it is registered so I would probably know if it was. When I remove the CPU riser and install all 8 DIMMs in the main board, I only get 64Gb and only 4 slots detected! If anyone has had experience with this please let me know! I know it's an older system but hopefully someone can help? Also if I can only use 6 slots, what's the best configuration?

Specs:

-HP Z620 Workstation

-Dual Intel Xeon E5-2643 v2 processors

-SK Hynix 16GB PC3-14900R DDR3-1866 Registered RAM

-Nvidia GTX 680

-Very Heavy 🙂

Thanks for helping some dude on the internet!
