Rebuilding this Pavillion P6-2000 system after finding the original case for it - still has the very short WiFi card for the AAHD2-HY
The card reader connector seems to be a single row, and I can't find any single row connector on the motherboard, nor have I found a diagram for the board.
The FP USB is a little strange also, with an extra 2 pin added to the normal 9 pin, but the board does seem to provide the appropriate headers.
PS. When I got it, the board had been moved to a larger case, the bundle of assorted hardware also included the original case

Hi @Matth9999,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Rebuilding an HP Pavilion P6-2028uk system can be a bit tricky, especially with issues regarding the card reader and front panel USB connections. Here's a detailed approach to help you connect the card reader and understand the FP USB header:
Identifying the Card Reader Connection
Check the Motherboard Model:
- The HP Pavilion P6-2028uk typically comes with the AAHD2-HY (Holly2) motherboard. Confirm this by looking for any labeling on the motherboard itself.
Card Reader Connector:
- The card reader connector in HP desktops is often a single-row pin connector. This can be different from standard headers you may find on other motherboards.
Locate the Connector:
- Inspect the motherboard carefully for any single-row headers that might be unlabeled or marked specifically for the card reader.
- Refer to the motherboard manual if available. HP often provides technical documentation for their systems.
Connection Pinout:
- If the exact connector is not evident, compare the pinout of the card reader cable to the headers on the motherboard.
- Typically, the pinout will include power (usually 3.3V or 5V), ground, and data lines.
Front Panel USB (FP USB) Connection
Understanding the FP USB Header:
- The FP USB connector having an extra 2-pin in addition to the normal 9-pin is unusual but not unheard of. This might be an extra power or specific data line.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you, yes it is the AAHD2-HY.
The connector marked card reader on the motherboard is a 12 pin (1 blank). The card reader connector from the case is a 5 pin (one blank). Maybe fits with the blank aligned
