I'm planning to buy a HP Pavilion Ryzen 7 Model 690-0067c.
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

 I'm planning to buy a HP Pavilion Ryzen 7

I want to put in an SSD so will that void the warranty.  Also can I transfer all the info from the 1TB that comes with it to a new SSD?  I was told if you open the case it voids the warranty?

@rgh43-,

The warranty covers only the original configuration and hardware.  Changes(s) are not covered.

Software to perform migration/clone to a smaller drive (SSD) has become standard fodder. Such is available on the web.

Exactly what wb2001 stated, the warranty covers the original parts, not any changes. I added a 500GB PCIe NVMe M.2 2280 Gen3 x4 SSD, cloned the 1TB HDD using Macrium Reflect Free, made sure everything was working, then swapped out the original 1TB HDD for a 3TB Western Digital Red HDD, storing the 1TB HDD that came with the system.

Do your homework and everything should work out well.

Two tips from my experience:

Firstly the HP Lincs motherboard did not come with a screw to hold down the M.2 SSD stick. I had to drive 30 miles to get the right screw size: a 2.0 x 3mm (CM2x3-3.3). I have hoarded screws for nigh 20 years of fiddling with computing machines, and nothing came close! They are often sold in kits that say something like Asus or MSI. It worked for my motherboard (I have a 590-p0057c).

Secondly, your motherboard looks just like mine, except for AMD Ryzen instead of Intel, and where the screw goes into the standoff to hold down the M.2 stick is pretty tight. I'm not a big advocate of magnetic screw heads inside of a computing machine, but I made an exception in this instance. The screw is tiny, easily lost, and the 'Power button connector' going to the front face of the chassis is right next to it.

enjoy!

I would like to Thank both of you for the quick response to my questions.

 I have another question relating to this.  My current pc I built myself starting with the case, ASUS  MB, AMD Athlon II X3 445, 12GB DDR 3 RAM, ASUS EAH5450 Video, Asus Xonar audio.  The MB & processor are from 2011 the rest is newer, so my question is this new pc a big step up, will I notice better speed than I have now.   I don’t play any games, just monitor the Stock Market, check e mail, make videos of my Grandchildren from my Sony  HD Video camera, not much else.   The reason for buying is to increase my speeed related to the tasks I'm doing like, Word to Excel , back to the net etc.   Since I have 90 days with my purchase I guess I could just use a stopwatch approach.

Now for my ? on the new pc. I have a NextStar-3 HDD enclosure with a 1TB WD HD backup drive that is connected to my current PC's MB. That enclosure came with a Sata to eSata adapter bracket with a Sata cable that I plug into the MB.  I have Win7 set to back up Win 7.  As there are spare Sata inputs in the MB this should be no problem to connect that external HD to the MB to continue backing up my HD.  It now backs up my OCZ 250 SSD weekly.

500GB PCIe NVMe M.2 2280 Gen3 x4 SSD, does that just plug into the MB?

Again Thanks to you both for your feedback.   Tom you made any change of an SSD a lot easier.
