Compaq Evo D510 SFF CPU heatsink removal for upgrade

I recently recieved an Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz 512 KB cache, 800 MHz side bus CPU to upgrade the 1.8 GHz one currently in my machine. The computer is a 2002 Compaq Evo D510 Small Form Factor. I know that the CPU is compatible. My problem is that I can't seem to get the CPU heatsink off so that I can put in the new CPU. I scoured the Internet for answers and found nothing. Please help! Does anyone know how to remove the heatsink???? I really appreciate any answer!

BTW...the processor you got won't work.

You can only run processors with a max FSB of 533 Mhz on the d510.

You need a d530 to run processors with the 800 MHz FSB.

I actually meant 533MHz FSB. I forgot that it was that. Thank you!

Did you figure out how to get the heat sink off so you could install the processor?

I had the d510CMT and it must have a different setup, because it was easy to remove the heat sink.

But silly me used too much Arctic Silver thermal paste and a few minutes after the processor heated up, the paste dripped over the side, and into the motherboard socket and POOF!
