I tried to swap a Quadro P5000 with a GeForce RTX6000 in my HP Z6 G4 Workstation. The power port on the RTX is 12pin and comes with an adaptor/splitter to go from a single 12 pin connection to two 8 pin connections. My pc has one 8 pin to connect to the adaptor leaving the other loose. When I powered up the pc, the start button beeped and blinked red and the pc would not start up. I put the P5000 back in and no problems. The power source is 1000watt, the draw from the card is 225w and the regular use of the pc only reaches 200w, so no power issue...the technical support for the card said it would run on only one, but he suggested looking into the compatibility of the video card vs the pc., so that is my question if anyone knows. I also read somewhere that HP works well with Quadro cards, not RTX so that could explain things but it's not the answer to the question, why? Thanks in advance...

Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!
You should try this 2 x 6+2-pin PCIe power supply cable (p/n: L15907-001) as suggested by this HP Z6 G4 Workstation User, as seen in this purchase example: HP Z4G4 Z6 graphics card power supply 10 pin to double 6P+2P/8PIN L15907-001 | eBay.
[EDIT:] Btw, when I looked up the 1,000-watt power supply for you HP Z6 G4 (p/n: L20514-001), it looks like it has two 6+2-pin PCIe power cables:
An RTX 6000 should run just A-OK in your Workstation, as you can see here.
Hope this was helpful.
Kind Regards,
