Am interested to know if a WD Black M.2 PCIe 256gb SSD (https://www.scan.co.uk/products/256gb-wd-black-ssd-m2-(2280)-pcie-30-(x4)-nvme-ssd-read-2050mb-s-wri...) be compatible with this system and would it use the PCIe port on the board or is there a sperate port for M.2?

Many thanks

Hi @JamesPetty,

Thanks for stopping by the HP forums. Good day. 🙂 I read the post about the finding information if the M.2 SSD in question is supported by your  computer or not.. I will be delighted to assist you with this.

Fabulous description and great research done on the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 Thanks for doing business with HP.I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

First off, I reviewed both the product specifications of the computer, motherboard  and the SSD link that you sent.

The check the product specifications of the computer please visit this link

Then visit the motherboard product specs link and look up the section under Expansion Slots.

On paper it looks like the M.2 SSD is supported.

Please note that HP does not recommend upgrading either the operating system or the computer’s hardware as the components that were initially installed with the unit are certified by HP for optimal performance.

However, as you are very technically inclined, I would still request you to consult a local technician like Best Buy or Staples before proceeding to upgrade the unit.

So please contact a local Best Buy or staples technician and perform the upgrade so that there are no compatibility issues with the SSD installed on your computer and everything works smoothly.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.  🙂

To simply say thanksplease click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂

Hi @DavidSMP

I appreciate your reply, I have not ordered a drive yet but will be in the next week, reading some reveiws the Samsung drives seem to come out better than the WD Black with the general consensus that the NAND memory on the WD is 'old fashioned' which is an interesting poin t of view. The 570-p052 actually comes supplied with a M.2 PCIe SSD and it should make a huge difference to the overall performance as the bottleneck always seems to be in the HDD performance.

Thanks again for the reply. It's been a while since i've had a dektop which makes me a little rusty.

Regards
