HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-2000a (2Z6C8AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I gave my parents my rtx 3060 gpu since their HP Pavillion TP01-2000na didn't have a graphics card.

Unfortunately the power supply does not have a power cable for a GPU, just the 3 that power the motherboard.

Having a heck of a time trying to find a PSU that will fit in the case (it's too narrow for a generic PSU so I assume I have to get them a HP PSU that will fit) that not only has the motherboard connections needed plus an 8-pin connector.

Support was unhelpful by phone so calling out to y'all for any advice!

@BluP1,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your parent's HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-2000a (2Z6C8AV), according to: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-desktop-pc-tp01-2000a/2100367768/document/c07916587, is fitted with a 180-watt power supply (HP p/n: L81008-800* "Power Supply - 180W ENT20 Gold") and the Erica6 motherboard (SSID: 8906).

* could be the 180-watt L08660-800 model.

I addressed this power supply upgrade before: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-TP01-2000a-PSU-Upgrade/td-p/..., and @old_geekster as well: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/upgrades/m-p/8234279.

According to: Power Supply Cross Reference for specific models - HP Support Community - 7483923, your power supply upgrade options are a 400-watt power supply (HP p/n: L04618-800) and a 500-watt power supply (HP p/n: L05757-800):

The aforementioned 400-watt power supply, which has one 6+2-PCIe power supply cable, is sufficient to power an RTX 3060, as you can see in my HP ProDesk 600 G3 MT upgrade project: Solved: Upgrading HP ProDesk 600 G3 MT - HP Support Community - 8544105.

You can purchase a 400-watt L04618-800 power supply online, such as via eBay:  HP L04618-800 for sale | eBay.

I would recommend purchasing one of these power supplies through a Seller who will allow returns ("30 day returns"), in case this power supply is not compatible.  HP-provided/sanctioned information regarding power supply upgrades for (legacy) HP desktops is scarce, that's why we include this disclaimer.

Hope this was helpful!

Kind Regards,

NonSequitur777
