Hey there! @HDevereux,
How is the monitor connected to your iMac?
Have you tried checking with a different video cable?
Are you using any adapters to connect the cable from the Imac to the monitor?
If you are using an adapter try using a different one.
Try connecting the monitor to a different PC and check if you are able to see the display.
Check the video cable and video source.
Similarly, on the HP monitor, use the OSD (On Screen Display) buttons on the edge of the monitor to select from the various "sources" on the monitor, such as VGA, DVI, DisplayPort, HDMI, S-Video. One of those inputs is connected to the output from your computer.
Open the OSD menu and select the Input Control menu. Set Auto-Switch Input to 2ff and manually select the input.
