HP All-in-One PC 24-df1000i (1W761AV)

I purchased my All in One 4 months ago and right out of the box it had a constant whirring/humming noise whenever it is powered on. I have tried troubleshooting with HP for a total of 4.5 hours and gotten nowhere as it says everything is working fine when we run diagnostics. We even scrubbed my entire system and did a reset. Nothing. It never goes away. Every time I reach out again they just want to do the same troubleshooting I've already done and don't offer a solution. There has to be a solution - perhaps to replace the part (the fan most likely). Can anyone give me the part number for this particular model or offer any advice? I am on the computer all day for work, and it drives me insane. It's a shame that this is under warranty yet I'm getting nowhere. I feel I have a defect unit.

Try entering Windows power options and selecting best power efficiency or balanced.

If power is set to performance, you are likely to hear the fan whenever it is on.

Thanks so much for the advice. I did look into this prior and my particular model only allows for Balanced power mode. There is no other option to switch it to. I initially thought this was the issue as well. I appreciate your response though!

"my particular model only allows for Balanced power mode. " That is interesting.

Which version of Windows 11 or 10 is installed?

What is the ambient temperature of the room where you are using the PC?

I am running Windows 11 and it is in my main living space which is always kept around 70 degrees with plenty of ventilation as it sits on top of my table with the back and sides open to the air. It was like this from the first day I took it out of the box.

Which version of Windows 11?

My own versions are the Windows 11 Pro.

There are Home and S versions available and they are not the same as Windows 11 Pro.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize there was a difference! I have the Windows 11 home version.

Windows 11 Home has a limited interface.

That is probably why you can't select and even more frugal power setting.

Aww that stinks as I have a feel that may be part of the issue.

No.

That should not be the reason. There isn't anything wrong with Windows 10 or 11 Home.

It is for people who do not want any granular control over their operating system.
People who do not make registry changes or mind if they can't make Group Policy changes should definitely use the Home versions.

How long have you had the PC?
Have you ever cleaned the intake and exhaust ports?

I suggest that you make a short video of the laptop while it is making what you consider a very loud humming whirring noise.

Post it to a hosting site and put a link here in your thread.
