Thank for the responses to others concerning upgrading the Envy Desktop 750-114 to a gaming system. On 02-01-2019 08:11 PM, Old_ geekster responded to a question. I wasn't able to access the link that recommended a card to work with the current 300w PSU. Can you provide an example.
I see the information on the compatible i7 processors in the specifications. I plan to give this machine to my son for gaming. I'm trying to save some money. Will those processors be good enough for a gaming environment? I plan to add memory and possibly change the PSU to a 400w later. Can you recommend a video card for a teen that is into technology. Can I swap to a gaming case with lights and liquid cooling, if not will I need to include a 2nd fan. Thanks

Recently there been issued with browsers used on the forum, creating LINK issues.
Hopefully you can see this link to your computer.
Best CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 (Skylake) 3.4 GHz Quad Core $300
Best PSU: Corsair CM 650 $85
RAM: It has 4GB and 8GB module. You do need to verify the part number. If the 8GB #698651-154
is correct, get it. $36. That will max out the unit for RAM at 2x8GB.
The video card is subject to needs. A dual slot card, no longer than 8" is OK, IMHO.
What are his actual tech needs? Is he actually into high level gaming?
Name an intense game, and I can suggest a card.
