I recently got the computer second hand and it currently has Windows 7 (32-bit) on it. It currently runs on 32-bit.
Motherboard info is:
Manufacturer's motherboard: Asus IPIBL-LB
HP/Compaq name: Benicia-GL8E
Within the product information for this product on HP's website, within the motherboard specifications section it lists the following under 'Memory Upgrade Information':
"Supports up to 8 GB on 64 bit PCs" which would seem to imply that this product can support 64-bit
The chipset is Intel G33, the processor is an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz
When I look in 'Performace Tools and Information' and then in 'View and print detailed performance and system information' on my PC, under the heading 'System' and then the topic '64-bit capable' the value is 'Yes'.
So my question is, "Could the motherboard and CPU on this PC support 64-bit?" and further to that, if the answer is 'Yes'; How would I go about changing the PC to 64-bit?
Are there any potential issues that I may face?
Lastly, please understand that I am not in a position to purchase any more hardware for this PC, and that I already have a copy of Windows 7 in 64-bit ready.
Thanks for any help and apologies if this question has rather an obvious answer to it. I am not very tech-savvy!

Hi:
Yes, you can run a 64 bit OS on that platform.
You boot from the W7 x64 installation media (you have to do a clean install from a 32 bit to a 64 bit OS).
You can use the W7 product key from your PC's case if it came with W7 as long as the version is the same (Home 32 bit/Home 64 bit).
