Hi HP Community,
I'm experiencing two recent issues with my OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop GT15-0119nz (Product No: 8U1D8EA) :
1. SSD DST failure (possibly false?)
Both HP UEFI diagnostics and the HP Hardware Check (Windows) report a critical DST failure on my primary SSD:
WD_BLACK SN850 Gen4 – SDCPNRY-1T00-1106
Failure ID: U0BTLF-C8XCMM-GXGH61-61QR03
At the same time, the system shows SSD health at 99%, with only 1% usage, according to both the HP tool and CrystalDiskInfo.
The SSD is ~8 months old, and all SMART indicators look normal.
I also ran a full surface scan — no bad sectors were found.
The diagnostics interface is in Ukrainian, but the data and numbers are clear and understandable.
I’ve never damaged or replaced any hardware — just cleaned dust carefully inside the case, without modifying or removing components.
So I’m wondering:
Could this be a false positive?
Does this affect my warranty?
Can I request an official SSD replacement from HP?
2. System freezes when opening Steam overlay in CS2
Over the past week, while gaming (especially in Counter-Strike 2), pressing Shift + Tab to open the Steam overlay (e.g., to invite a friend or view a profile) occasionally causes the entire system to freeze completely.
When this happens:
Keyboard, mouse, Alt+Tab, Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Alt+F4 — none of it responds.
The only solution is to force reboot the PC.
Luckily, the system restarts very quickly, so it’s manageable — but still frustrating, especially during a match.
Additional notes:
Today (June 30th), I had a remote session with an excellent HP consultant.
I granted remote access, and he installed a firmware update for my WD_BLACK SSD.
After that, I ran another full system check (which normally takes ~4 hours), but it ended early (after ~1 hour) due to the same DST failure.
That’s why I’m posting here — maybe someone else has faced this before or has helpful input?
I’m planning to reconnect with the support representative tomorrow to continue troubleshooting.
In the meantime, I’m attaching screenshots from both June 29 and June 30 diagnostics.
Aside from these problems:
✅ Temperatures are normal
✅ CPU & GPU stress tests are stable
✅ General system performance is excellent
Screenshots from HP tools, CrystalDiskInfo, and surface scans are attached.
Any help or clarification would be greatly appreciated — especially regarding whether the DST issue is real, how it affects warranty, and whether the overlay freezing could be SSD- or CPU-related (maybe even temporary thermal throttling?).
Thanks in advance!
