Hi C7009,
I'm pretty much exactly as you are in that last post. I wonder if other folks have variations of this problem, but either don't notice or don't care...
I admit to being a bit fussy sometimes, but then again these computers are quite pricey, so we should be able to have one that's right to begin with. I'm actually delighted with it aside from its slight tilt! It seems like a great PC.
You may be in a different position since you bought yours in a store, but since I bought mine straight from HP, I contacted their customer support line. They asked for some photos from me and after seeing them, they have actually agreed that it's slightly misaligned and have offered to replace it with a new one. Because they're brand new, we should both be within our rights to exchange them for straight ones.
I'm going to think about whether to arrange for a replacement now, as I wonder whether there's a chance that another one comes with the same problem, or perhaps worse. The actual machine functions brilliantly, so I'm also worried in case I exchange it and end up with a different problem. Hopefully it will all sort itself out soon! 🙂
Thanks for your responses here. Hopefully this thread has helped us both out.

Hi Arthur-C and wb2001,
Thanks for your comments. I've contacted the HP customer service line and have been offered a replacement since I only bought it this week. They were very helpful. I'm going to be thinking about what to do this weekend, but will be checking this thread in case anything further comes up.
Also wb2001, my unit comes on a base with a single post stand, not a double, if that helps.
Thanks

Hi C7009
How's your Desktop going? Have you sorted it out yet?
I'm still trying to decide whether to exchange it or not. I think I probably will.
I've found one other review on another website that talks about crookedness on this PC. It's on the Best Buy website, where there are loads of reviews of the Pavilion. I didn't read them all, but I could only find one that talked about this tilting problem, so hopefully a replacement will fix it, otherwise surely more people would have mentioned it.
However that review means a third person aside from us has experienced it. I suppose that if you put a machine on a single post/stand you will have to ensure that it's fixed on exactly right, or else it may start to lean one way or the other. The guy that left the review, said that his machine tilt had become worse over a few months, so perhaps it's better to start off with a straight one. If it starts off leaning or tilting to one side, then perhaps it may even get worse over time.
Thought this bit of info might be of use.

@Arthur_c I never received a PM from you
@wb 2001 I cant see any manual tha mentions a screw

I took it back to the store and they replaced it. We checked this one in store and it's perfect. The screen should tilt backward and forward, the one on the other one was just fixed..
I am a little nervous it may happen over time but at least I know to look out for it.
So far it's running very well. Very happy.

Glad to hear it. Thanks for that! 🙂
I'm still waiting for mine to be sorted and hoping that the replacement will arrive this week.
In case anybody is interested; on this issue of screen tilt, I went into a store a couple of days ago to check out the in store models. They had two Pavilions on display, one with a 27 inch screen and one with a 24 inch screen. The 27 inch monitor was completely level with the table and perfectly aligned. The 24 inch monitor was about a cm, at least, tilted to the right, possibly more. It was more slanted than the one I've talked about in this thread. It seems to me that perhaps the 24 inch Pavilions may sometimes suffer from a problem of being misaligned. I didn't notice it when buying, but in the last two weeks, I've found 4 different cases of this.
Cheers!

Finally received a replacement unit, delivered today.
It's exactly the same. The measurement of crookedness seems the same, but to the naked eye, it might even appear more wonky. Not sure exactly.
Are any of these units actually level?

Just took a couple of pictures. It's difficult to see the issue clearly in a picture since it's not a major misalignment, so I put the same tape measure at the base of either corner for reference. HP have authorised another replacement, but I'm debating whether to bother or not. Is this a wider issue with these models? I don't know. Perhaps they're all a bit like this.

That's terrible. Definitely crooked. Obviously a fault with these models. Have you noticed if you can tilt the screen up the down? On the crooked one I had the screen was totally fixed I.e. didny move st all.
I'm worried mine will end up like this over time. So annoying when it could easily be designed better with a bracket on the back that's adjustable, like heaps of stand alone monitors. 😞

Hi,
Yes the model that I have bought tilts up and down a little and is supposed to, so that's fine. However, it was slanted to one side as you can see in the photos and that's not quite right.
They sent me a 3rd unit a couple of weeks ago to replace it again and it had a similar problem. This time it was slanted, but not as much as the first two times. I was so busy that I couldn't chase it up for another exchange a third time... plus it was getting a bit ridiculous. The third replacement is the best of the three, but is still a bit wonky. It's not that bad, but I still look at it and think, "it's misaligned".
It seems to me that this is a common design issue with these Pavilions and I totally agree that they should just have got it right in the first place. I've checked them out in shops ever since I bought one now and more often than not, they are slanted to one side and wonky. Perhaps it's 60 or 70% of them that I've seen have been slanted one way or the other.
Is your one perfectly level? My one is very close to level and only 3 mm out... which is not a lot. But I notice it all the time, because the back of the base is out of line with the bottom of the monitor. I've been trying to get over it... part of this problem is me being too fussy, or having OCD... but part of it is the fact that these machines aren't made straight... they should just sell them with a warning sign, saying that they may not be perfectly straight, then you know what you're getting yourself in for!
