HP DC7600
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

As a teacher running a TV studio in a public school, tight budgets force me to take what I can get to run the studio. A parent donated an older DC7600 SFF with win 7 64 bit OS. It has 4 1gig pc4200 Ram sticks, the max under Win XP 32bit which put in after finding some random sticks including a 6400.  I have an intereste in using 5300 4x4gb ticks but have to buy them as HP site says I gould due to Win7 64.  Will the DC7600 run pc6400 Ram sticks (240 pin style) for I have 4x 2gb sticks of that They are probably CLA 6 as opposed to the older RAM with a CLA 4. 

 

Owners Manual says:

For proper system operation, the DDR2-SDRAM DIMMs must be:
■ industry-standard 240-pin
■ unbuffered PC2-4200 533 MHz
■ 1.8 volt DDR2-SDRAM DIMMs
The DDR2-SDRAM DIMMs must also:
■ support CAS latency 4 (CL = 4) for DDR2/533 MHz
■ contain the mandatory JEDEC SPD information
In addition, the computer supports:
■ 256Mbit, 512Mbit, and 1Gbit non-ECC memory technologies
■ single-sided and double-sided DIMMS
■ DIMMs constructed with x8 and x16 DDR devices; DIMMs
constructed with x4 SDRAM are not supported
