DDR2 RAM upgrade

Compaq Presario CQ5210F
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The Compaq Presario CQ5210F came with the M2N68-LA (Narra5) motherboard installed. The product upgrade specifications are:

  • Dual channel memory architecture
  • Two DDR2 DIMM (240-pin) sockets
  • Supported DIMM types:
    • PC2-5300 (667 MHz)
    • PC2-6400 (800 MHz)
  • Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered
  • Supports 2GB DDR2 DIMMs
  • Supports up to 4 GB* on 32 bit PCs
*32-bit operating systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.
What I'm wondering is if DDR2 PC2-8500 (1066mhz) will register for use@1066mhz even though it's not listed?
Here is the chipset: NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
Here is the FSB speed: 2000MT/s (2.0GT/s)

@Tetelesti , welcome to the forum.

The memory that is listed in the HP documentation has been fully tested to assure that it is compatible with the motherboard.  Therefore, any memory not listed is likely not to compatible.
