I know my i9 12900k can handle DDR5 ram, but I can't find info on whether the motherboard has a capable controller. Does anyone have any insight?

What in the world do you mean by "capable controller"?

DDR5 memory is only applicable to some enthusiast motherboards which have the applicable DIMM slots to accommodate the number of pins that a DDR5 memory module has. Your factory built desktop PC does not have an enthusiast motherboard.

Your desktop PC's motherboard accepts only DDR4 memory. That is the case for the Blizzard and BlizzardOC motherboard, one of which is in your desktop PC.

DDR5 modules will not physically fit in the memory module slots. To not damage the motherboard, do not try to force fit the modules in the DIMM4 slots.

DDR5 is very new to me. It's been about 13 years since I've messed with a PC, other than a simple GPU upgrade. I initially asked on another form without much detail of my current ram, but they may have confused it with the new 40L that comes with DDR5. Someone had mentioned uncertainty of whether the memory controller could take advantage of the ram I was looking at. I started to get pretty confused, with what now looks like ill advice partially my fault. With these computers using proprietary motherboards, there's not much info like non proprietary. I really appreciate your reply. It seems I have quiet a bit to catch up on.
