For whatever reason(s), my DVD drive in my HP Pavilion will not recognize a DVD+RW but will recognize a DVD -R. Whenever I try to burn a DVD, it always fails. Any suggestions would be most welcomed. Thanx in advance for comments/suggestions.

While the spec page for that model indicates the DVD drive is supposedly capable to use the DVD+RW media, some drives can/will be finicky. Especially on DVD+RW. The slim drives can be more problems than the full size desktop drives.
If you actually need to use RW media, try a different brand or -RW. Not all drives play nice with all media, so find what works with that drive.
Look in device Manager to find the drive model and brand and post back if you need more help.

While it doesn't recognize the DVD+RW DVD's, I does recognize the DVD+r & DVD-R but I get error message everytime I try to burn DVD's using NERO software. I sometimes hear a gringing noise. I have extended warranty so I'll get a new DVD drive & hope for the best. Thanx for your input. Much appreciasted.

That sounds like a good plan.
Jusy an FYI: the slim drives that your PC uses are usually good preformerming drives, so maybe that one was just a poor drive. Post back with results after getting the new drive.

It can't 100% be sure that it's your hp drive to blame. On top of the DVD drive element, it's probably related with your DVD disc.
In case your DVD disc is physically damaged or scratched, it won't be recognized by your hp drive. Repair your disc first with this DVD repair tool WinX DVD Ripper (Free) to have a try. It's free. Good luck!
