HP Pavilion 550-107np

Hello, I need some advice please...

I have a HP Pavilion 550-107np  - HP Pavilion 550-107np Desktop PC Product Specifications | HP® Support -   and I believe the motherboard is dead... When I turn the PC on, nothing happens at all.. Just silence! 😛

I have disconnected all the components and removed the RAM, CPU and the battery for a full day. Then I placed back the CPU and the battery and still there  wasn't any signs of life...

I  also tried with a different PSU an result was exaclly the same..

I guess I can start looking for a new motherboard and would like to have your opinion which should be the most suitable MB for this desktop...

Can I go ahed with any LGA 1150 Socket-H3 micro MB, with Chipset Intel H87 or do I have to worry only with the Socket?

Thank You! 🙂

The big issue is whether the PSU plugs into the motherboard. Its a uATX form factor and those are available in the market. You can use any motherboard in it that you can make power on with the power supply. I have upgraded several proprietary desktops with an industry standard motherboard and basically made it into a custom PC.

Thanks for your reply, Huffer.

The replacement PSU that I have (just in case the original one is burned out as well),  has a 24 pin connector plus the extra 4 pin, which fits in the ATX's motherboard.

It's old, but is enought for the pc.

Should be fine, right?..

Yes as long as you can get a motherboard bolted into the enclosure and the mounting points are the same (an offset mounting point can short the board) and you can bolt in a PSU that powers the board you can populate the board with processor and memory, hard drive(s) and expansion cards and you have a working computer. An HP/??? hybrid mutant but still a working computer.

Yes, that's the main goal! Put it to work! 🙂
