OMEN 880-108na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hi HP

I've just bought and received my Omen 880-108na. Now while searching the HP database about expanding the ram to this PC, i have found two different documents for the Tampa 2 motherboard SSID: 8437 which contradicts each other. The HP docs are listed below.

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c06177288 - this doc says its supports upto 64GB ram

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c05811928  - this doc says its supports upto 32GB ram

So please HP support, WHICH IS IT......... does the Tampa 2 MB take 16GB dimms or not?

many thanks Mark

Hi, Mark:

This is a peer to peer forum, not HP technical support.

I recommend you address your question to the HP executive team at the link below.

https://ssl.www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/connect-with-hp.html

Below is the link to the Crucial memory report for your PC...Crucial indicates 4 x 16 GB is the max.

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/omen-880-108na

The processor specs indicate that it can take up to 128 GB of memory, so I would have to agree with the 64 GB memory spec.

Hello
If I may !
There is more than one difference for this model, it should just be a question of release date!
The question is whether you need to shield your pc in memory.
I am in 16 GB, that is more than enough, going to 32 can be useful in some cases, but 64 GB, you really have to have a particular use of your pc!
That said, if you look at the differences, it also talks about frequencies and different processors!
the motherboards are identical, it's just that Hp updated the pages, but didn't think of removing duplicates!
The product page gives no less than 4 links

  • Four DDR4 UDIMM (288-pin) sockets
  • Supports PC4-21300 (DDR4-2666) and PC4-19200 (DDR4-2400)
  • Supports 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB DDR4 UDIMMs

or

  • Four DDR4 UDIMM (288-pin) sockets
  • Supports PC4-19200 (DDR4-2400)

in any case 32 it is a certainty since hp offers for example

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/omen-by-hp-880-100-desktop-pc-series/18695893/document/c0591375...

  • Amount: 32 GB
  • Speed: PC4-19200 MB/s
  • Type: DDR4-2400

Sorry but personally if not considered replacing it before, the pc is equipped with a gtx 1060 3gb card with 8 GB of ram
16 go ok, but 32 GB or more with this card , and the proc (intel Core i5-8400 CPU speed: 2.8 GHz )

is nonsense !

hi

thanks for the answers so far. So i have ordered 1 x 8GB of exact match to the Samsung one that come in the pc from HP. So as I can not find a manual for the mother board on the HP support site, the question is this. To get best performance I need to use dual channels for the ram

1 x 8GB  is installed in the first red slot next to the CPU, so what slot should I put the new dimm in?????

reading the web, some say a different colour identifies the other channel ie one in red slot and one in a black slot, but some same to use the same colour means the 2nd channel, although that makes less sense to me.....

SO PLEASE HP experts, what actual slot should i use to get the dual channel performance of 2 x 8GB - with my config

thank you

You're very welcome.

You would install the second 8 GB chip in the other red slot if the first one is in a red slot.

Hello
Yes, @Markj34  indeed, on the net, we have everything and its opposite, I had no memory, yet read such stupidity
, unless it is special with certain manufacturers !??
So even if unnecessary given the level of @Paul_Tikkanen
I confirm and it is in all logic, the modules work well in pairs in general, and to make it simple we use the same colors
If that can reassure you!
Be careful though, the modules must be identical !
