Product: HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-1114

My monitor connected to my PC will not reflect a full screen. It displays a small portion of the screen with black borders.  I have changed the display settings but that does not work.  If I select aspect ratio and use auto resize, the monito will have a black border.  If I select aspect ratio, 21.9, the screen is stretched and distorted.  What do I need to do to have my PC work with my Dell monitor. I am using HDMI connection.
