There is a discussion here about upgrading the 520-1010 and a faster CPU is mentioned.

to get 16gb of memory use a pair of 8gb and you must have an ivy bridge cpu as well as 64bit windows
Since the CPU is socketed, you do not need to replace the motherboard to get better performance.
