After a period of inactivity, the computer goes into sleep mode, is that correct? When it goes into sleep mode the computer starts making intermittent sounds like when you connect and disconnect a USB cable.

I tried to isolate the problem so I disconnected the wires one by one. The sounds didn't stop until I tried disconnecting the cable to the on-board VGA, after which the sound went away. What can I do about it?

Greetings,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

Yes, I would think you have a graphics driver problem or a hardware (the VGA cable) problem.

Try installing the HP Intel video driver (Link).

Or try a different VGA cable or a HDMI cable if your monitor supports HDMI .

There is a BIOS update (Link) for your PC. The "Fixes" don't mention this problem.

A bad BIOS update may break your PC requiring HP factory service. Proceed with caution. Don't turn off your PC during a BIOS update.

Regards
