I’ve just set up my home office and have my work laptop hooked up to a docking station using a usb a to b cable.
If I unplug my work laptop, Is there a way I can hook up my old desktop to the docking station using the same cable, or is this impossible?

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to know whether you can connect the laptop docking station to our desktop.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I would like to inform you that there is no such concept as a docking station for desktops. However, what you can do, as you have mentioned that your docking station uses a USB cable to connect to our laptop, you can connect the docking station to the desktop using the USB cable and check if it works.
Having said that, there is no guarantee that it will work with the desktop computer.
I hope that answers your question and you have a great day!

Cheers!
