HP Pavilion All-in-One PC 24-k0000a (7TC08AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Recently updated BIOS now i find when desktop goes into sleep mode i'm unable to wake it. Have run Windows trouble shooter, HP diag and even reset Windows (this is a reinstall). Microsoft now of the opinion the BIOS upgrade has caused the problem, unfortunately i have no way of going back to old BIOS version. Advised to review power settings in BIOS but there doesn't appear to be an option for power settings. Can any one help?

Hi @fletch1951,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's unfortunate that you're experiencing issues with your HP Pavilion All-In-One PC after a BIOS update. While I can provide some general guidance, please note that BIOS settings can vary between different models and versions. It's crucial to follow the specific instructions provided by HP or consult their support resources for your particular model.

Here are some general steps you can take.

  • Check for BIOS Updates: Even though you've recently updated the BIOS, there might be newer versions available that could address the sleep mode issue. Visit the official HP support website for your specific model and check if there are any newer BIOS updates. If available, follow the instructions to update your BIOS to the latest version.
  • Reset BIOS Settings: Sometimes, resetting the BIOS settings to default can resolve unexpected issues. Access the BIOS/UEFI settings during the startup process (usually by pressing a key like Esc, F1, F2, Del, or another key depending on your computer model). Look for an option to reset the BIOS settings to default, save changes, and exit.
  • Check Power Options in Windows: Although you mentioned reviewing power settings in BIOS, it's also important to check power options within the Windows operating system. Go to "Control Panel" > "Power Options" and ensure that the settings are appropriate for your needs. Adjust the sleep and hibernate settings as needed.
  • Rollback BIOS (if supported): Some manufacturers provide an option to rollback to a previous BIOS version. Check the support documentation or contact HP to see if this is possible for your system.

Remember to back up your important data before making any significant changes to your system settings.

Always be cautious when updating BIOS, and only use official updates from the HP website to avoid potential complications.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
