HP Recommended

I have another question about optical drives. When getting a replacement, do you go by the part number on the drive or from hp parts surfer? My drive I wanted to replace, p/n on drive is 849055-6C3. HP part surfer indicates p/n 853885-800. I purchased a drive 853885-800, and it sounded terrible when disc inserted. Returned it, of course. Can someone please advise me on this?

I would use part # on the drive which is the original one.
