HP Pavilion Desktop - 550-127c

4 months out of Warranty  it appears the color yellow is not being rendered, anything on the monitor that is supposed to look yellow now appears as a light grayish green color.

I have updated the chip set and video drivers

I have tried 2 other known good VGA cables, I have tried different monitors, and proven the current monitor good on a separate system as well as the VGA Cable

I tested using the HDMI output from the video card as well and got the same result

I do not know what else it could be other than the graphics card failing

this is an integrated graphics card on on the MB, I do not wish to replace the MB if I don't have to

there appears to be an available slot , can I purchase a standalone graphics card ?

any suggestions on anything else I can try or what model graphics card I should purchase

I do not do any gaming or video processing so I don't need anything high powered just something decent and reliable

@spmctm

You have to use external card now but your machine only has 180W PSU therefore you can use GeForce GT 730 (available on some machines - pre-installed option) or other AMD card with similar wattage.

@spmctm , welcome to the forum.

@banhien, gave you some good advice.  However, I suggest that you try calibrating your monitor.  The symptoms that you described could be a problem with the monitor.

well that did not work

new card installed and same issue,  new card has a dvi and a vga output so now I can see the same color issue, ( no yellow) on 2 different displays simultaneously further proving there is not an issue with the monitor(s) or cables

so it has got to be the MB right

Hi !

This is a weird behaviour which you are facing to and the diagnosis steps you completed are very helpful. Without you having already checked it, I would have suspected a faulty pin in the VGA link.

Give a try to another operating system, try to boot the machine from a Live CD and check that the yellow colour is absent too. I do not believe too much your problem might be OS related, with some malware under the hook, but it might worth to test it, too.
