Hi,

 

I have a P6516F desktop that I want to upgrade the CPU so that my kid can use it. The BIOS is dated back to 2010. If I want to upgrade the CPU, do I need to update the BIOS? I checked the HP website and they don’t even have this product anymore

Welcome to the HP Forum.

 

HP has retired this product line.

 

There would be no official BIOS updates available from HP.

 

This Site lists processor options which should work using the HP factory installed BIOS.

AMD Phenom II X6 1045T HDT45TWFK6DGR 2.7 GHz six core socket AM3 CPU Thuban 95W

I am not sure if this CPU would work and if you know if there are any update version of the BIOS.

The AMD Phenom II X6 1045T is not listed at the aforementioned site in my first response.

 

The AMD Phenom II X6 is not going to work.

 

No official HP BIOS updates are available for your PC.
